Our Curriculum
Learning through Play
The educational programs at Smart Potatoes were created with our children’s needs in mind: to mature and develop in a safe yet stimulating environment. Our programs are designed to meet the needs of both children and families through specific goals and objectives. We focus on building off of the strengths of each child, taking advantage of every teachable moment. Take a look below to learn more about what our programs cover.
Cognitive Skills
At out centre we focus on developing foundational learning skills required in the school environment such as attention, memory and thinking.
Language and Literacy
Literacy is another aspect of our curriculum which our staff are passionate about. Our programs use literacy activities such as singing, rhyming, writing and reading to improve your child's overall language development.
Fine/Gross Motor skills
Our programs incorporate activities which target the small and larger muscle groups that are crucial for successful milestone development such as crawling, running and building.
Outdoor Play
Outdoor experiences provide children with opportunities to explore, discover and appreciate the world which surrounds them. Our daily program includes morning and afternoon outdoor play time for all children.
Creative Arts and Music
Arts and craft activities are a big part of a children's self expression which is one of our highest values. At Smart Potatoes we work to strengthen your child's confidence, communication and imagination skills
Social and Emotional Play
At Smart Potatoes we value relationships, respect and integrity. These values adhere to our social activities which focus on expanding children's recognition, expression and regulation of emotions.
